Class Details

Discover the art of air-dry foam clay in a relaxed, hands-on setting suitable for both Children (ages 4+) and Adults. These classes emphasize hand-building techniques, color blending, and creative design through step-by-step projects and open practice.

 

Classes meet once a week for three consecutive weeks per session, offering Sunday slots for children and weekday mornings for adults. Participants will enjoy personalized instruction as they learn to shape, smooth, and detail their own unique 3D creations, typically completing one small project to take home each class.

Children’s Air-Dry Foam Clay Class

 

Class Overview

Get ready to squeeze, shape, and create! This hands-on class introduces children to the colorful world of air-dry foam clay in a fun, supportive atmosphere. This class is taught primarily in Mandarin, with English support provided as needed. It’s the perfect place for kids to explore their creativity and build fine motor skills in a friendly, low-pressure environment.

 

Students will learn fundamental techniques through step-by-step guidance, turning soft foam clay into colorful characters and objects. Each session features a guided project theme with plenty of time for individual creativity. With a focus on fun and exploration rather than perfect results, this class is an ideal introduction to 3D art for beginners. No prior experience is necessary.

 

What Students Will Learn

 

In this class, students will learn fundamental air-dry foam clay techniques, including:

  • How to properly condition, shape, and smooth foam clay

  • Basic hand-building techniques such as rolling, pinching, flattening, and joining pieces

  • Basic color mixing techniques to create custom colors and shades

  • How to add texture and details using simple tools

  • How to combine shapes to create animals, characters, and small objects

  • How to express creativity through color, form, and imagination

  • How to care for and finish air-dry foam clay projects
     

Each session includes a short demonstration, hands-on creating time, and individual guidance as needed.

 

Art Supplies

All materials are provided, including:

  • Air-dry foam clay

  • Clay tools

  • Work mats

 

Students do not need to bring any supplies.

Finished clay pieces may be taken home to air-dry; tools and work materials are for in-class use only.

Immerse yourself in the soothing art of air-dry foam clay. This beginner-friendly class offers a peaceful escape from the daily grind, providing a welcoming space to unwind and reconnect with your creativity.

 

Guided by step-by-step demonstrations, you will learn the unique properties of foam clay while working on satisfying, hands-on projects. We balance clear instruction with the freedom to experiment, allowing you to discover your own style at a comfortable pace. The goal is to enjoy the act of creation and craftsmanship without the pressure of perfection. No prior experience is needed.

Payment Policy

Tuition is due before the first class session.

 

Enrollment

Maximum 10 students.

 

Cancellation Policy: 

Refunds for cancellations will be issued as credits and may be applied to other sessions within the program.

​Consent for Participation:

I understand and acknowledge that participation in Evergreen Mingyuan School, including all its activities and the use of its facilities and equipment, can result in injuries, harm or loss. I authorize the child named in this registration to participate in all activities both in the classroom and activities. On my own behalf and on behalf of the child named in this registration, I assume the risks of participation and hereby waive and release all claims against Evergreen Mingyuan School (including its directors, staff, and agents) that may arise from injuries, harm or loss resulting from participation in the classes and activities, to the fullest extent allowed under Washington law.

 

Media Release:

I understand that my child may be photographed during classes and activities. Photos may be made available to all families and photos may be used in promotional materials. I agree that a designee of Evergreen Mingyuan School can take and use photos of the child named in this registration during classes and activities without compensational obligation, and I hereby release Evergreen Mingyuan School from any claims or liability resulting from their use of photos.

 

​Medical Release:

In the event of serious illness or injury to my child, I expressly consent to the administration of emergency medical care, if in the opinion of attending medical personnel, such action is advisable. Further, I authorize the staff and agents of Evergreen Mingyuan School to act on my behalf as parent/guardian of my child while participating in classes or activities including the admittance to and release from a medical facility. I acknowledge that the costs of any medical treatment provided to the child named in this registration that are not covered by medical insurance will be my sole responsibility.
